Believe it or not, you were not born into this world unhappy.
As a newborn baby you were very connected to your needs. If you were hungry, you cried. If you were thirsty, you cried. If you were uncomfortable or felt unsafe in any way, you cried until somebody noticed and helped to put things right for you.
As long as your needs were met, your natural and default position, as a newborn baby, was peace and contentment. Your default position is still peace and contentment..as long as you can get your needs met from your environment.
So what happens to us along the way? Why do many of us find those positive, peaceful and contented feelings so elusive?
Sometimes life feels like ‘man in the saddle’ and sometimes it feels like ‘the saddle on the man’.
When we disconnect from the enormous resources of our human brain, whose job it is to help us get our needs met, happiness can feel like you’re grasping at shadows. The problems of life can make it feel hard to feel happy. No sooner do you get on top of one problem than another looms over the horizon.
The good news is that you have enormous inner resources. Your subconscious mind knows the answers and understands the appropriate way forward for you.
